If you experience heartburn only after you go to bed, you may find that a few simple changes can help your symptoms.
We already mentioned that by not eating for 2 to 3 hours before bedtime, your stomach is more likely to be empty when you go to bed, and there will be less chance of reflux.
You may also find relief if you raise the head of your bed about 6 to 8 inches. This is usually enough to keep your head above the level of your chest, which makes it more difficult for stomach juices to flow back up into your esophagus.
