Treating GERD in Infants

Using Surgery to Treat Infants With GERD

In rare cases, infants have a severe form of GERD that can cause breathing problems or prevent them from growing. For some of these infants, surgery may be the best option.

Summary

In most cases, medications or surgery are not needed, as most infants outgrow reflux by one or two years of age.
