GERD Home > Artichoke Leaf Extract Drug Interactions

There are no known artichoke leaf extract drug interactions. However, this does not necessarily mean that the extract does not interact with other supplements or medications; it simply means that no information is available about possible interactions. As a dietary supplement, artichoke leaf extract is not as strictly regulated, compared to prescription or even non-prescription drugs. With most medications, studies are done specifically to test for possible drug interactions. These studies are rarely performed for dietary supplements and have not been performed for artichoke leaf extract.
More information about potential artichoke leaf extract drug interactions may become available in the future. Before taking the supplement, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the possible interactions that may apply to you. Also, tell your healthcare provider if you are taking artichoke leaf extract before you take any other medication. Sometimes people forget about the "natural" products they are taking.
