Available in both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) forms, nizatidine (Axid®) is a drug used to treat conditions related to the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Some specific uses include the treatment or prevention of the following conditions:
Over-the-counter nizatidine is approved for treating the following conditions in people 12 years of age and older:
The prescription version comes in capsule form, and the nonprescription version comes in tablet form. Depending on the condition being treated, nizatidine is usually taken by mouth one or two times a day.
