GERD Home > Other Reactions to Nexium

Other Side Effects

There are other possible Nexium side effects that can occur. These rare side effects occur in less than 1 percent of patients. For these side effects, it is difficult to determine whether the side effect is a result of the medication or caused by another factor.

Some of these possible Nexium side effects include, but are not limited to:

  • Broken bones (some studies suggest this or other similar medications may increase the risk of bone fractures)
  • Low blood magnesium (hypomagnesemia).

Things to Remember

It is possible that you may experience some or none of these side effects. Make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you develop something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect of Nexium, it's best to tell your healthcare provider so that he or she can diagnose and treat the problem.
