Pepcid AC® (famotidine) is a drug approved to treat indigestion, heartburn, and sour stomach in both adults and children. It can also be taken 10 to 60 minutes before meals to prevent the symptoms of these conditions from occurring. Pepcid AC is a type of H2 blocker that works by blocking histamine in the stomach to reduce acid production. The medication is available over-the-counter and comes in tablet, gelcap, and chewable tablet forms.
