As with many other medications, Prevacid® (lansoprazole) can cause problems. Some of the most common problems with Prevacid include:
If side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. There are other possible side effects that can occur. These rare side effects occur in less than 1 percent of patients. For these side effects, it is difficult to tell whether the side effect is a result of the medication or something else. Some of these rare problems with Prevacid include migraines, chest pain, and insomnia.
Other Prevacid precautions and warnings apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain allergies (including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives). Also, you may not be able to take Prevacid if you have medical conditions, such as liver disease or liver failure.
