Prilosec Dosage: An Introduction
The dose of
Prilosec® (
omeprazole) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your age
- The medical condition being treated
- Other medications you may be taking
- Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Helicobacter Pylori Infection
There are two different regimens for treating H. pylori infections. The triple therapy regimen consists of the following medications taken for 10 days (or for 28 days in people who currently have a duodenal ulcer):
The dual therapy regimen consists of the following medications taken for 14 days (or for 28 days for people who currently have a duodenal ulcer):
- Prilosec 40 mg once daily
- Clarithromycin (Biaxin) 500 mg three times daily.
Duodenal Ulcers
The recommended Prilosec dose for duodenal ulcer treatment is Prilosec 20 mg for four to eight weeks.
