Prilosec Interactions
Several drugs may interact with Prilosec, such as Celexa, Valium, and iron supplements. Some of these interactions can alter the amounts of medications in your blood, possibly decreasing their effectiveness or increasing your risk of side effects. Therefore, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any drug interactions with Prilosec that may apply to you.
Prilosec® (omeprazole) can potentially interact with other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Prilosec include:
- Ampicillin (Principen®)
- Cilostazol (Pletal®)
- Citalopram (Celexa®)
- Clopidogrel (Plavix®)
- Diazepam (Valium®)
- Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
- Certain diuretics, such as:
- Bumetanide (Bumex®)
- Chlorothiazide (Diuril®)
- Chlorthalidone (Thalitone®)
- Ethacrynic acid (Edecrin®)
- Furosemide (Lasix®)
- Hydrochlorothiazide (Esidrix®, HydroDIURIL®, Microzide®, Oretic®)
- Metolazone (Zaroxolyn®)
- Torsemide (Demadex®)
- Disulfiram (Antabuse®)
- Erlotinib (Tarceva®)
- Escitalopram (Lexapro®)
- HIV medications
- Iron supplements
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
- Methotrexate (Rheumatrex®, Trexall®)
- Phenytoin (Dilantin®, Phenytek®)
- Rifampin (Rifadin®)
- St. John's wort
- Tacrolimus (Prograf®)
- Voriconazole (Vfend®)
- Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
