Protonix 20 mg Tablets

Protonix® (pantoprazole sodium) is a prescription medicine commonly used for treating GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). It is also approved to treat erosive esophagitis and pathological hypersecretory conditions.

The medication, which comes in tablets and oral granule packets, is available in several strengths, including:

  • 20 mg Protonix tablets
  • 40 mg Protonix tablets
  • Protonix for oral suspension (individual packets of Protonix granules, containing 40 mg of Protonix per package).

Your healthcare provider will prescribe your dosage (and recommend either 20 mg tablets or 40 mg tablets) based on the condition you are being treated for and other existing conditions you may have.

The usual recommended Protonix dosage for the treatment of GERD is 40 mg once daily for up to eight weeks. For people with pathological hypersecretory conditions, the recommended starting dose is Protonix 40 mg twice a day.
