Protonix Oral
Protonix® (pantoprazole sodium) is a prescription medication approved for the treatment of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), erosive esophagitis, and pathological hypersecretory conditions.
There are several forms and strengths available for this drug: oral granule packets (available in one strength) and tablets (available in two strengths). The drug is taken by mouth, usually once or twice a day. It can be taken with or without food.
Protonix belongs to a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid in your stomach by blocking the acid production sites. By reducing the amount of stomach acid, it can help relieve heartburn and other GERD symptoms.
