Protonix Side Effects
In the case of Protonix, side effects most commonly include such things as headache, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, and insomnia. Other common side effects may include vomiting, high sugar levels, and burping. There are many possible side effects with Protonix, but most of them are rare, meaning they occur in less than 1 percent of patients. Examples of rare side effects include allergic reaction, swelling under the skin, and chills.
As with any medicine, there are possible side effects associated with Protonix® (pantoprazole sodium). However, not everyone who takes Protonix will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate the drug well. When people do develop side effects, the symptoms are usually minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Protonix has been studied extensively in clinical trials, with over 11,000 people worldwide having been evaluated. In these studies, side effects occurring in a group of people taking the drug are documented and compared to those that occur in another group not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.
