Reglan^® (metoclopramide) is licensed for the short-term treatment of diabetic gastroparesis and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is available by prescription only and comes in several different forms, including tablets, an oral solution, and an injection. The medication works for diabetic gastroparesis by helping food move through the stomach more quickly and helps improve GERD symptoms by preventing the stomach contents from refluxing back up the esophagus.
