Tagamet® (cimetidine) is a medication that is available by prescription and over-the-counter to treat certain conditions within the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. The prescription form is used to treat ulcers, GERD, and pathological hypersecretory conditions, while the non-prescription form is approved for treating acid indigestion, heartburn, and sour stomach. Some of the most common side effects reported with Tagamet include drowsiness, diarrhea, headache, and breast enlargement in men.
