Zantac
® (
ranitidine hydrochloride) is a medication used for treating a number of conditions within the stomach, esophagus, and intestines. It comes in two different forms; the over-the-counter product is licensed to treat
heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach, while the prescription drug is used to treat ulcers,
GERD, erosive esophagitis, and pathological hypersecretory conditions. Zantac decreases acid production by blocking histamine in the stomach. Talk to your healthcare provider before using this drug if you are pregnant, have liver disease, or have phenylketonuria.
