What If I Take an Overdose?

An overdose with this medication may cause a variety of bothersome (but not usually dangerous) symptoms. Nonetheless, it is important to seek immediate medical attention if you have overdosed on any medication.

How Should Zegerid Be Stored?

Zegerid should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children.
 

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you do not take your Zegerid as scheduled, it is probably best to simply skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule (as you must take this medication on an empty stomach at least one hour before a meal).
 

Available Strengths

This medication comes in the following strengths and forms:
 
  • Zegerid 20 mg capsules -- 20 mg of omeprazole and 1100 mg of sodium bicarbonate
  • Zegerid 40 mg capsules -- 40 mg of omeprazole and 1100 mg of sodium bicarbonate
  • Zegerid 20 mg powder for oral suspension packets -- 20 mg omeprazole and 1680 mg sodium bicarbonate
  • Zegerid 40 mg powder for oral suspension packets -- 40 mg omeprazole and 1680 mg sodium bicarbonate
  • Zegerid OTC 20 mg capsules -- 20 mg of omeprazole and 1100 mg of sodium bicarbonate.
     
It is important to note that two capsules of Zegerid 20 mg (or Zegerid OTC 20 mg) do not equal one Zegerid 40 mg capsule, due to the sodium bicarbonate content.
